The World's First Direct Conversion Fluoroscopic Images

providing you with the

Most Advanced Digital Imaging Technology

  • Wide view 17 inch Direct-Conversion Flat-Panel Detector (FPD) - delivers ultra high definition images for examining virtually any region
  • An ideal imaging chain - The direct-conversion system changes input X-ray signals directly into electrical signals, thus eliminating a number of conversion processes required by conventional imaging methods. By eliminating noise or data loss that commonly occurs during the conversion processes, this system achieves ideal, pure digital images with accurately reproduced details.
  • Ultra high quality images with clear detail at a low X-ray dose - Shimadzu's direct-conversion FPD offers high sensitivity to render clear images of the target with a spatial resolution comparable to that of film, while using a low X-ray dose. Ultra high definition images created by the extremely fine pixel size of 150µm show minute details clearly. Since the sensitivity is as high as that of film, only a low exposure dose is required to produce high-quality images.
  • Wide view 17 inch FPD meets a variety of examination needs - The system produces large 17" x 17" images, while maintaining the extremely high resolution of 150µm. The wide view 17 inch FDP is large enough to capture sizeable areas on maximum size film. It provides distortion free, ultra high-definition images of the full abdominal region at 30 frames per second, and provides a wide examination area when for orthopedics. The Safire FPD is also available in a 9" X 9" format as well.
  • Clear contrast in lung images The direct-conversion system's high sensitivity and wide 14 bit dynamic range provide images with high density
  • Wide dynamic range for reduced halation The wide 14 bit dynamic range yields optimum images with minimal halation. Because the direct-conversion FPD does not require a light conversion process, there are no blurred images due to diffusion. Furthermore, it produces clear images of the near-skin layers for orthopedic examinations.

New Fluoro, and Digital Cardiac Imaging (DCI)
Advanced RSM (Real-Time Smoothed Mask) imaging process technology is applied to every single image of Fluoroscopy and Digital Cardiac Imaging by using a high speed image processor.

TomoSynthesis
Shimadzu is again leading the way with the latest advances in imaging technology - TomoSynthesis. Tomosynthesis results when you combine the high speed and high resolution of a Dynamic (real-time) FPD imagery and computerized 3D Reconstruction along with the most advanced algorithms. The results are 3D images which rival Computerized Tomography (CT) imaging. However, Tomosynthesis offers numerous clinical and technological advantages such as increased spatial resolution, reduced patient dose, near zero metal artifacts, also available in a weight bearing tilting table, lower acquisition and operating costs, etc which CT can not.

Direct Conversion - DIGITEX Safire converts X-ray directly to electric signal by converting layer [a-Se] which is the shortest pass without using light conversion process. Conventional Image Intensifier or currently available indirect FPD technology is based on Scintillator technology, which converts X-ray to light first and converts again to video signals. There is certain data loss (mostly spatial resolution) process by light scatters. Shimadzu Safire technology does not require light process pass, but directly converts to final image data, achieved world No.1 spatial resolution and superior image quality.
